Palliative care aims to treat or manage pain and other physical symptoms. It will also help with any psychological, social or spiritual needs.

Palliative care includes caring for people who are nearing the end of life.

We believe that everyones wishes should be considered when planning care, especially when it comes to decisions on where care is administered and wishes about where someone wants to die.

Knowing you have the option to be in your home, in familiar and comfortable surroundings is a huge comfort to many and the palliative care we provide is home based.

Palliative care is extremely flexible depending on individual wishes but often includes:

1 Improves quality of life 2 Provides relief from pain 3 Does not quicken or postpone death 4 Combines psychological and spiritual aspects of care 5 Offers a support system to help people live as actively as possible 6 Helps the family cope during an illness and in bereavement 7 Uses a team approach to address the needs of the person who is ill and their families 8 Is not just about end of life, it can also support people in the earlier stages of illness To find out more about how our team work with families dealing with terminal illnesses please contact Melanie.Meads@q1care.co.uk
